How do I restore files from the plesk.msi package?

This knowledgebase post shows the steps to be taken to extract files from the plesk.msi installation package when some parallels plesk panel files are missing on the server.  The tutorial applies only to the following Parallels Plesk versions for Windows:

  • Parallels Plesk Panel 10.x for Windows
  • Parallels Plesk Panel 9.x for Windows
  • Parallels Plesk Panel 8.x for Windows

In order to restore the missing parallel plesk panel files from the plesk.msi package on the server , simply run the following command:

msiexec /a PathToMSIFile /qb TARGETDIR=DirectoryToExtractTo

Before executing the command, make sure to change the ‘PathToMSIFile’ and ‘DirectoryToExtractTo’ with the actual paths.  Once the missing files are restored, it is highly recommended to reinstall Micro-Updates to get all of the repaired files.
